Sticking to the new philosophy... Steve Nash

Steve Nash has to be the coolest athlete around. In a league dominated by high-rising black men, (relatively) little white Steve Nash dominates. He has returned each year with a new element to his game, making it one of the most protean that the league has ever seen. It is not common for a point guard to have his best year at age 31; but then again Steve Nash is far from common.

Steve was born in South Africa, grew up in Canada, but spends most of his summers in New York - more specifically lower Manhattan. What does he do in his spare time in New York? Not exactly what you might expect from an NBA superstar.

He doesn't call up his posse (I wonder what kind of people would be in Steve Nash's posse...) to escort him to the barbershop; he'd rather skateboard all by his lonesome. A few days ago, an editor from Dime Magazine walked out of his New York office to see who he "swore" was none other than Steve Nash "skateboarding down a busy street in Lower Manhattan."

Steve doesn't call up MJ, Dirk, Kobe, Raja, and J-Kidd for a nice friendly game of 3 on 3. He would rather go down to the local state park and tell a group of unsuspecting ballers that he's got next. However, don't kick your teammate off the court to make room for Nash if you see him walking towards the court in shorts and a T; there's a good chance Nash will keep on walking right past you. It (probably) wouldn't be because he was thinking "man, I don't wanna play with these scrubs," but more likely that he had a preconceived destination of the soccer field.

Once the game of futbol is all over, the players who serendipitously teamed up with this mysterious white man walk away with thinking, "damn... that guy's really good. I wonder what he does."

He wins NBA MVPs.
